How Do I make my livejournal Private?

If you mean individual entries, at the bottom of the page there is an option for making the entry public, friends or private. Just pick one.

If you mean the whole journal, there is an option on one of the preferences pages somewhere that will lock the whole thing up.
That's only for paid accounts tho I think.
