Sunday27 May
Crawfish and shrimp roban, bread, and salad.
Always a favorite :-D Sure did make a mess of the kitchen, but it's o so worth it.
Monday28 May
Beef in cream sauce, rice, carrots, and fresh peas!
We've had this before, it's fairly quick and simple. There isn't really any sauce to speak of (it calls for one tablespoon for two servings, I think), so it could really do with a better title. Anyways, it's tasty enough.
Tuesday29 May
Thai chicken soup with garlic bread.
This soup came out of the freezer. Was good.
Wednesday30 May
Sloppy Joes with
friesI was so irritated. We were going to have
a chicken dish this night - but when I pulled the chicken out of the fridge, it STANK to high heaven - and it was green. A vague tinge of green tinted all the meat and skin, with large patches of green in certain parts, mostly on the back. Ugh. We tossed it (carried it outside straight away), and had to light a candle to dissipate the smell. So, racking our brains over what we could make quickly with what we had - I had a sewing class to get to - we came up with burgers or sloppy joes. We had burgers not that long ago, so sloppy joes won. Pretty good; I winged the measures, slightly, because we didn't have a full pound of ground beef, and I didn't want to take time to pare it down in the usual manner. It came out less saucy, which made it less sloppy. Might do that on purpose next time.
Thursday31 May
Shrimp, crawfish, and tasso pasta with bread.
Tasty as always. This is the dish that may well cause us to figure out how to make our own tasso when our current supply runs out (since the guy quit the business).
Friday1 Jun
Rice with everything.
Everything but flavor, that is. This one's got some potential, but needs some help. We reckon we'll increase the garlic (a lot), and add onion at the beginning. Beyond that, all we can think of doing is adding herbs. Anyone got any more ideas?
At any rate, it made a lot, so it's now in the freezer - we'll see how it does with thawing and reheating!
Saturday2 Jun
Fry-pan fish supper.
This lacked flavor as well. I should have known it would, getting it out of an English cookbook. Ah, well. It was edible and filling, but we won't bother again.
