I am soooo behind on these. Oops. What can I say, life gets crazy sometimes. Well, Monday or Tuesday night I was about to do these when our internet went out. Then life got a bit hectic. I'll put each of these entries under cuts so as not to flood your flist too much.
This day's prompt is "something you made" - lots to choose from! I'll flood you with a few things from 2010.

A corn dolly I made at a family fun day at a local park. You start by learning how to make ones like this lover's knot, and then (apparently) work your way to making ones like these:

I didn't get that far; I stopped at the lover's knot one. I did, however, see that the WI's adult college, Denman College, actually has
a course on corn dolly making! Cool as those are, for the prices Denman charges, I have to go first with something I think will be useful - more on that in a later post. Anyways, I think the picture at that link is what my lover's knot was supposed to look like. Ah, well, it was fun to make :-)

My first - and so far only - attempt at baklava. It was really tasty, but I absolutely must figure out how to scale down that recipe. It's rather labor intensive, and rather pricey, and a lot of it went to waste - turns out there is such a thing as too much baklava. Chris can't have nuts, but we thought he could do okay with pistachios; we learned after making this that no, he can't have pistachios. Must say I'm not overly fond of pistachio baklava, so that didn't really help with eating it. So yeah, I'll make it again, but maybe only a quarter the amount, and with walnuts or something.

I made these at the first
hands-on sugarcraft night I went to. The tree and the bow are made of rice paper; the wreath is a certain type of frosting that was pressed into a mold and then caaaarefully teased out.

These are the placemats we made for Thanksgiving in 2010. We collected leaves, then dried them, then put them between two layers of contact paper with the oval-cut orange card. I'd wanted just leaves, no card, but it didn't work, so we settled on a fall color for a background. They were okay, but didn't work spectacularly as placemats, being a bit bumpy, and they won't last (leaves rot, who knew?), so be aware of that if you decide to try it.

Not really something I made, but something that happened in the course of making something or other. It looked cool, so I snapped a photo. Egg whites, egg yolks, water, and oil, each forming their own unique layers - who knew that egg yolks were more dense than water, and that egg white was most dense of all these? Cooking - it's science for hungry people. :-)
And with that I shall conclude this post's picspam. Hope you enjoyed!
