Inspired by a conversation with UnderIt just blows my mind that people believe in soulmates. The whole concept is a crock of shit. fairnymph and I had a conversation last night about this same subject, and came to much the same conclusion.

Or better yet, that there are 'soulmates' out there for us... but there are a number of them, a number of people we click with in a special fashion that is somehow distinct from the rest of the folks around here.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it... we should get Christian on LJ... he would like it. :)

Wouldn't your soulmate BE the person that you get along best with, share the same interests, etc? And if you were going to find someone like that, I bet it would be likely that they shared a similar culture and background with you, so it makes perfect sense that your soulmate lives right there in Podunk with you.

I dunno if I buy into the soulmate concept or not. I know one thing though... I would never "settle"...Find someone who makes you happy and what else do you need? If your with someone who makes you unhappy, well, what the hell is the point?

*Every* man is an island. We simply belong to a large Archipelego called Humanity. We grow selves from individual experiences. That's why I find it inconcievable for soulmates to exist. In order for htat to happen, they must be undergoing stimuli in a polar direction in order to grow to suit your needs. That would take a feat of Synchronicity that even Dr. Jung would need a heaping helpful of sugar to swallow.

But, stranger things have happened.
