I think I've discovered something missing from my life. I didn't realize it was missing, or that it may be having an effect on me, but something popped into my head today and now I'm noodling it around

I can empathize easily having been in your same position: the one others come too or see as the wise sage.

It can be quite an experience of finding your way without having someone you can turn to for an ear or objective opinion.
