It wasn't even eight o'clock and her apartment was freezing. The kindling in the fire place was dying down, and she'd just returned from a trip outside to grab more logs for the fire. It was twenty degrees in Oklahoma City, and Megan could surely feel its effects. The apartment was freezing, and with no central heating to speak of (considering her ( Read more... )

[ Least to say, Gabe has a cold. A seriously bad one, his noise is red, his sniffling and a rather fatigued face and wearing a moderately well insulated red jacket. Casual work wear, with a bomber hat as always. He never really cared for fashion and it's clear how worn his clothes he's wearing are. At least there are no holes in them though.

He sniffs, getting into a small scuffle with snow on a frozen lake tends to have ill effects. While he can stand the bitter cold he is not easily able to recover when he's soaked. However he's in better condition than what he was a few days ago - either way though. Gabe looks a bit like hell. It's been hell because his cities have been doing everything in his apartment for him, which only proceeded to make him further frustrated.

He figures to give a small knock on the door before slowly opening it. After all, he said he was coming over - right? ]

Eheheh... Hey Megan?

In the living room! [she calls, but gets up anyway, smiling in earnest as she spots him - at least before she takes in his condition. well, there goes his any chance of getting a beer out of her, as she's immediately frowning and shepherding him into the living room where it's warmer.]

It's warmer in here. You didn't mention you were sick, I would've made you a hot drink or something.

[ He sniffles again, squinting his eyes involuntarily from the pain and how congested his head is. Blocked up is a strange sensation, like you have your ears stuffed with cotton to some degree. It's left him a bit disoriented, but he is definitely not going to show that in his actions.

He dawdles idly, looking around her home, he won't ask about the lack of heat - but he realizes he has lived fairly comfortable either way. Best not to question it since she's being kind enough to even speak with him when most would roll their eyes in disgust at the sight of him.

Finally in the living room he finds a good place to sit down. ]

I'm not sick, I just... have a cold. From a little skirmish I got into, ya know?

[ He tries to make a grin, but that pang in his head. ] A skirmish that ended up with me full of snow.

[she sighs, thinking better of asking him about his skirmish automatically. instead she'll just bustle a little, putting a blanket over him without asking if he wanted it, and immediately going to grab him a hot drink. the dogs will come over to greet him - probably one of the only males that they aren't suspicious of. he'll at least leave her place warm and comfortable, she'll make sure of that. from the kitchen it's easy enough to carry on a conversation, and so she does.]

What do you mean, a skirmish? Apparently you were in the snow a little too long, hmm? [bringing him over a hot drink, laced with this and that - don't ask. it's meant to get rid of headaches and congestion, and is piping hot to make sure he doesn't get chilled.]

Are you hungry, by the way? I made sure there were things to snack on..
