IDEA!

I know I don't have the greatest track record of being an active LJ member, but I'd like to change that.  I think that one of the things that would keep me coming back to LJ would be involvement in a community that wasn't strictly HP-related.  And one of my favorite things to do is to write little reviews in my head of movies, books, music, etc. ( Read more... )

Would it make me look horrible to say that I purchased a domain and hosting with the intent to do something like that? God knows I rec things CONSTANTLY, and I wanted an outlet to do that, and I planned to open up a real public blog but never got around to doing so on account of RL and lazy.

SO. I offer you space at my place, if you wish. I'm paying for it anyway, and it might as well get put to use! If you want, that is. I could set up a blog with multiple accounts, and if you have a few people who would DEFINITELY post a few times a month it'd be, in the words of Borat, "Great success!" It would lessen the "free-for-all" postability, though, so that's a drawback. But you could accept guest reviews? And even set up an LJ feed, so people would see the posts on their flists.

Just an offer -- you don't have to take it. :)

OMGYESPLZ.

You're one of the first people I thought of when I thought of this because I was certain you'd probably considered doing something like this or would be interested in it.

I have no idea how much renting a domain costs, so please tell me and I'll work out a payment agreement with you, otherwise I'll feel absolutely horrible.

This could be mutually beneficial -- I know you're always looking for things to put in your portfolio, so having a domain like this up and running would definitely help out, right? And it'd help me get some 'published' writing samples in case I ever need them.

I will see who I can get to post regularly. Your idea of an LJ feed and guest posts is absolute genius. Perhaps I can enlist some of my Truman friends to help out? A friend of mine from school started her own site that's somewhat similar, but more about politics and the campus community goings-on. But she might be up for it.

:) :) :) You just made my night!

1. You know I'm always looking for a chance to inflict my interests on others, duh!

2. I have been paying about $8/month since last September, but because I'm an idiot I've only been using the space to store pictures and files and crap. >.<

3. I am, and it would, and benefits indeed!

4. I adore media and entertainment in all its forms, but I figure nobody wants to hear me fangirl things they don't care about (yet!) on LJ. I think having a public blog, with diversity in its posters, would be amazing, both to participate in and to read. The more diverse people you can gather, the better!

Also, does your new email address mean that you have MSN Messenger? I've been trying to convert all my friends because the MsgPlus add-on for it is absolute genius. :D

I do have MSN messenger but I never get on because it's not installed on this computer and also, I'm avoiding my aunt. LOL. I know that's lame, but it's true.

But it would probably make it easier to communicate about, well, stuff like this, wouldn't it?

That's an interesting idea! I wish I could offer more to help, but I don't have that much new stuff to rec on a regular basis (unless you're talking fic, which might be a different story ... but even that is hard to find these days).

I'd be happy to do a guest rec once in a while, though. I look forward to seeing how this thing takes off! Especially with you and Jaymee both on it. :)

I'm glad you're enthused! Even if it's not something you would contribute to on a regular basis, my hope is it would be something you'd enjoy. I don't think we'll be doing any fic recs though; I'd like to keep this more mainstream.

I can't wait to see what comes of it -- Jaymee is full of amazing, fun and creative ideas and she really knows what she's doing. :)

I'm definitely happy to have more sources for new things. HP land is getting a bit stale these days (how sad is that!), so venturing out is definitely a good idea.

And speaking of HP land, I see you've picked up a prompt for the CM challenge! Yay!
