" Francisco (Paco) Born in Madrid in 1952 A designer working in architecture studios drawing plans and perspectives, with an fine arts background, mainly self-taught artist.
Francisco Segovia is an prize-winning painter.
His realistic works express a social awareness that leads him to depict the extreme anguish of the man of our times in his solitude within the large city. from an ascending perspective, Segovia describes the interior of a building under construction with an assurance considered praiseworthy by the judges, reflecting a spatial conception full of force and vitality; the linearity displayed by the concrete structures and steel beams of the building’s stories inverts the straight line movement initially induced transforming it, before the observer’s eyes, in an enticement to circularity. The diagonal draws an ellipse that ascends to the hole of sky.
Francisco seems to play also with the figurative-abstraction of the trompe l’oeil in his centrifugal spatial composition.
He has won 1st prize at the X Premio de Pintura Ciudad de Avila 2009 (X City of Ávila Painting Prize), among others..
Noteworthy is the BMW 1st prize in 2002, received personally by her Majesty Queen D ª.Sofia of Spain.
Since 1997 he has had exhibitions in Spain and in the United States of America. His works are part of private and public collections throughout his native country. "
