The more we fight Silentium, the more I wonder about what Anguis said. That they destroy everyone who might be a threat, to prevent people from rising up and ruling over them. I didn't feel or hear any anger or hatred from Saturnus, just...inevitability. Is that what it means to be able to see the future? That you have to go along with it even ( Read more... )

Exactly. At first it sounds like it's reinforcing the idea of predestination, but in fact it's the opposite of that. Because anything can happen, it means nothing is set in stone until it's been resolved.

... Incidentally, Teppei wasn't serious about everyone killing themselves to prove Saturnus wrong. At least I'm confident he wasn't.

I should have studied quantum physics harder in school...

Yes he should have. But for the time being his fighting spirit and discipline have let him keep up with much larger and stronger fighters, fighting them as well as alongside them.

And it's that spirit, one that is all too common in the GDF, that we need to harness for an inevitable next battle with Saturnus.

They're just going to keep showing up until we have to kill them, aren't they?

But we proved to him that the future isn't always set in stone. It's what we make of it. I'm not really sure what "Everything happens somewhere" means in a metaphysical sense, but I know that whatever the future has in store for me will be shaped by my choices.

*nods* You're right about people letting what they see control them. Whether they're psychic or not, they... we just focus on what we know and sometimes ignore what we don't.

Yeah...powers or no powers, if you don't take the time to understand people, you're going to end up doing something bad.
