So yeah, it's been a plenty long time since I last updated at an acceptable rate. And I've noticed that LJ is autosaving posts, interesting--not like the fiasco where I accidentally pressed something, and BAM everything was gone.
So the past few weeks and the ones coming have been/will be very busy. Ouch.
Well to start things off, I left the last post on an emo-esque note, me being a whiney brat about State, oh well. :D.
I've recuperated.
I took my SAT I exam at Claremont High School. It was pretty nifty, second time I've been there in my 17 year tenure, and it rained again. It was really cool though, I've always had an affinity for that school, don't ask. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, the math, for sure, was easier than the practice prep exams were. We'll see, in five days' time I'll have the online scores available--I think I did very, very well on the essay too :). Mr. Flemming, Mrs. Frankini, and Mr. Cortina all like my essays, they've all given me 5+ or 5/6 or a flat out 6. :). I'm good.
But that's done with, and when I get the scores I'll decide if I want to retake the exam or not. I'm shooting for a 2100, I'm not David, so I'm not shooting for a perfect 2400. I'm not setting myself for a fall that big.
With that note, I've realized how cocky and annoying I've been about colleges and such. I saw an old post on my Xanga of how I was being a dick and saying "I'll never go to a UC or Cal school" Heh. Realizing my present situation and such, I've realized I was a fool. Lately I've changed my priorities around a little as it comes to college. I didn't know how easily entrenched I'd become in the college process so quickly, I'm scared that life is moving so fast.
*worried*.
But, for those who care, who are ppl I just give this link to...My new list is...in order of importance:
Stanford University - Stanford, California
University of Southern California - Los Angeles, California
University of California ~ Berkeley - Berkeley, California
Yale University - New Haven, Conecticut
University of California ~ Los Angeles - Los Angeles, California
University of California ~ San Diego - San Diego, California
Loyola Marymount University - Los Angeles, California
Yep, don't get me wrong--I would *love* to go to Yale, I'd be the happiest boy this side of the Continental Divide, but the odds are dwindling down, mainly because of the money issue and because I'm not as super and perfect as David.
Moving on.
Today I was completely surprised at some interesting news.
I was nominated for the Michael Schneberger Scholarship . =0.
Do you know what this means?!
Oh Em Gee.
It means that out of the 280 Juniors, I'm in the top 5 exemplary juniors who exhibit what a Damien Spartan should be.
You have no idea how happy this makes me. Because sure, if any of you know me and my class, you can say that there are plenty of other people who you'd expect to at least get nominated-- Alex Verdegem, top notch water polo player and swimmer, top of his class, sociable, etc. Isaac Han, very very very smart, nice person, overall. But...I was chosen among the others, and that makes me glad because it's an indicator that I'm on the right path, at least, to becoming a well rounded individual. No, I'm not a star athlete or a braniac, but I'll proudly say that I'm on the top of my class, active in Bowling, Amnesty International, Debate, and other extra currics that stood out to the faculty.
I'm happy :).
Yay.
Prom.
WEEE.
Wow, I had an extraordinarily good time. Maddy was as beautiful as ever and made my night one of the best in a long time. All of those that I knew looked great, and seemed to have plenty of fun. The place was astounding, beautifully done. I invited David along, and no, not because I wanted to conduct lewd acts with him ;)but because I really do think he's one of the niftiest and splendidest people I know, and a friend needed a date. :D
Haha, I had fun, Maddy and David got along well, and Dee has this burning passion for him. :D
I won't say any more.
SAT II
Oh dear, I'm not worried about these at all, I'm looking forward to them actually, I'm taking Spanish and United States History this upcoming May exam. It's good because I can take the APUSH Exam on Friday, then the next morning take an hour exam on it again. =0 All the review for APUSH will pay off in the SAT II. And Spanish? Heh, Spanish is my bitch lover. :D
