Still cruising along in FF, my spot of R&R in this crazy world. The nice thing is since I've gone through nearly all of the missions requiring a party thanks to my buddies, I don't need to worry about that ("that" being begging people for help) and can just do solo stuff like quests, crafting, etc. Put up ye olde seek flag on a DD job when I don't

Sunday Mornings are: Boneyard, Uninvited Guests, Sacrarium, Riverne XP.
I'd love to be able to do Pso'Xja ENM again.
I'd also would love to be able to find others to do Promy Vhazl ENM, Ulegerand ENM and Mineshaft ENMs. I believe that you could literally go the whole week doing non-merit party stuff with 5 others who also have the same concept. Can also do assaults with 5 others too.
People should do more Garrison. I remember doing level20 garrisons. Those were fun.

I also did 30 cap garrison, think that's even better as people have more JA's and spells available.

considering how hard it is for BLMs to get to 75 these days (see Ex/Kali) it'll be a while.
maybe i'll finish my merits by then.

Once you get a job to 75 in FFXI, there's a lot that you can do solo. However, it doesn't even come close to the amount of soloing you can do in EQ2. One of the big problems with grouping in FFXI too is that there is a very small level range of people that can join you (for exp) before the amount of exp you get decreases greatly. In EQ2 a 55 can group with a 70 and there is no noticeable affect on the exp. (EQ2 is weird, the exp is very ethereal. There's a bar, and once you get to 100% you ding. You get exp for everything you kill, but because you don't get a message saying "You gain XXX exp", you don't really notice how much you get each fight or over the course of the group.

That's a good point about how the level gap really limits the pool of people you can exp with. SE had an item you can use to cap the user at a certain level, but it's hard to obtain. I think that's a great idea if you can cap yourself and exp with your friends. Nuts like me also rather like reliving the noob days when it wasn't all rampage merit parties and using nice low level equipment.

Yeah, in addition to the level gap having little to no effect in EQ2, you can also 'mentor' another player in your group. This lowers your level to that player's level, and gives them a 5% exp bonus. However, it decreases the exp you gain by 50%. This is mostly used in doing a quest when a higher level person comes to assist killing a mob for the quest. If your level is too much higher than other players in your group, they will not receive credit for killing the mob, so mentoring is necessary. I'll stop repeating how much I like EQ2 :-p I've recently admitted to myself that I am now addicted.
