so a friend and i are thinking about starting a side business building media centers. pretty much the idea is that you can buy a all in one media center from us. it would be either a piece of furniture like a TV stand or shelf with a computer hidden inside, or visible and all integrated into it or a stand alone unit that would be just a small cool ( Read more... )

I wouldn't buy one; I'd just build one myself. ;-)

But seriously, if you think you can do it and can match the prices of places like Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., AND make a profit, then go for it! Just remember... when something goes wrong (for example, the customer ends up with viruses or spyware, or the video card fries, or the hard drive crashes), they're gonna call YOU for help, and expect YOU to fix it. Is that something you're willing to deal with? For me, the answer was no... that's why I don't build computers for anybody except myself nowadays.

thought of that, and i think were gonna use a stand alone program to run everything, so theres not an actual windows desktop. so they can't down load stuff or screw with the settings, and if we build an actual pc version, there on there own, they have to ask for one, knowing that we'll warentee parts but that's it.
