We got word this morning that we won a second big contract. This is great news for the office and will provide a lot of stability for several folks. My office has numerous contracting vehicles that everyone works on, but its nice to have the stability of a large one too. Three weeks? Wow, the longest we've ever been without power is like half a day.

there wasn't much in today's news about locals being without power; so i guess they finally got hooked up again.

yeah, my parents lived so far in the boonies, i could see it happen. then again, a couple of years ago, my best friend and his wife were living in durham north carolina and there was an ice storm that left them without power for over 2 weeks. that's pretty urban there. they were heating their place with the fireplace (not too effectively), and giving as much food away as possible (neighbors too). so much for infrastructure of a super-power, eh.
