Well, my technical expertise is just getting better and better if I do say so myself. I now have my TV card working! So hopefully I can figure out how to upload some of my V for Vendetta clips as Mpegs now.

Just been playing with some of my period films today, trying to get into the mood for my book again, and found a few screencaps;

Just since a lot of folks on my flist have mentioned Dougray Scott recently... )

methinks i like him better with shorter hair (not necessarily short, mind you) and clean-shaven. like he was in 'Ever After'. i can't recall if he had facial his in 'Arabian Nights', but he looked good in that one too...

Dougray Scott... mmmmm...

I couldn't really concentrate on him much in that film because it was sooooo awful, but I did like the long hair a bit. Wasn't so keen on the facial hair, but it is period. About the only thing in that film that was historically accurate.

Did I mention I don't like the film? lol

LUV the icon!! *giggle*

See, I'd probably have to go look at the movie now... LOL! I'm rather notorious for liking awful movies. I mean, I like Excalibur and *I* think it's horrible! I have lots of friends who can't stand 'First Knight', but I loved it... there are countless others to name but I think you get my drift (*ahem* 'Troy' is one of my favorites, but once again, I'm in the minority of people who liked it)...

And I don't think you mentioned not liking the film enough... LOL! ;-)

I tend to have a guilty pleasure thing about period pieces and costume epics, even though I end up not liking most of them. ;) Haven't seen To Kill a King; did like Excalibur but part of that is about its in-your-face messing about with the original story. (And you gotta love anything that features Gabriel Byrne's Uther Pendragon ravishing Igrayne while wearing a full suit of armour. (That's gotta chafe ( ... )

I don't mind a little bit of leeway with history, and I can usually look over things because I hit myself and say 'shut up, it doesn't matter!' (like the V for Vendetta Guy Fawkes scenes. I learned to be good and ignore...). But this film bears no resemblance to history whatsoever, mangles the personalities involved to the point where, if I was one of their descendants, I would want to sue, and isn't actually entertaining either in the result ( ... )

Hmmmm, yummy lookin' bloke there... :) Thanks for sharing:)
And I must agree that accurate doesn't have to be boring, just like exciting doesn't require complete dismissal of fact. The difference is creative talent, intelligence and conscience.
