Hi there. I don't really know what this post is about, but I just wanted to say that I think it is great that you play top-100 hit records as well as the obscure stuff. I mean, there is a reason why those songs are popular and those bands got big, people liked them and they still do.

yes! thank you at this point we only do this night about once or twice a month now anyway...so is hearing "picture book" by the kinks, or louie louie by the kingsmen once a month a bad thing?? I don't get it. these people apparently don't like those songs...they would fall under the catagory of "lame" perhaps....

Thing about doing a DJ night is that you have to take into account that most people there aren't record nerds and are really there for one reason - to have a good night out (which I thought was the whole point of making music in the first place). The best party nights I've been to always make a point of mixing the lesser known with the well-known.

And maybe there's a reason why the well-known records are well-known. It's 'cos they are the best examples of whatever particular genre they represent.

thank you. amen brother. I've heard "green onions" by booker t. and "96 tears" by the mysterians a thousand times. as well as every song by the kinks. and every time I hear them I almost cry they are so good. maybe these people have too many hang ups with simply having fun.

"... and every time I hear them I almost cry they are so good."

OMG! Me too! It makes me sad to think that pop music might never be that exciting ever again. Damn. Even some of the contrived bubblegum pop bands were good in the 60's.

it was a thread on craigslist of all places.
I was bored. oh, I don't even know who those people were, except one......some people (most likely 17 to 25 year olds who've only gone to mod dance party once or twice posted some stuff on craigslist critical of dance party. it's no big deal to me, more funny than anything else.!
the thread I was responding to was going on for more than a week before I finally had enough and had to say something. the stuff I wrote was really
and for our friends to laugh at than to try to change the minds of the people that are critical.
like I said in the post. these "critics" can say they hate it and it's boring, but I know they'll be there the very next time I do it. LoL. and it's o.k. as long as they spend money.

I miss the dance party every day of the week. I've never been to a DJ night as laid back-cool. Too many kids trying to be cool.

more of a "I hate Kristen" cause when the dance party gets defended my personal life pays. WTF? From the grammatical set up of the post, i think its two people posting over and over, and i'm pretty sure who it is.
