What kind of art are you interested it? I've got a foot in the art community of the area, and even though I'm going to be busy as freak I'm sure I could find out about something for you.

That said, in general, the SAM is wonderful, there are a bunch of museums in Tacoma that are also wonderful. It's a pity that you'll miss First Thursday (free museums). If you want to check out random galleries, Pioneer Square and along 1st Ave are great places to start, but there are a lot of others around. The gallery I work in (at my school) is going to have an interior design student showcase up at the time. Also, up in Bellingham there is thw WSU campus which apparently has a huge collection of public art. Oh, and there's also the Olympic Sculpture Park on the waterfront just north of downtown proper.

I'll look up some stuff for you, specific shows, specials, that kind of thing, if you want.

*grins* I can't wait for Sakura-con! *excited*

Sorry! So freaking busy! *grins* I found the offical sites of the art walks that have maps. This one has Pioneer Square: http://www.firstthursdayseattle.com/

And this one http://seattleartwalk.org/home.html has the area around the SAM. (Although the first site has some of that, there just happen to be a LOT more galleries and studios around Pioneer Square.)

And here http://www.artguidenw.com/artevents.htm is a list of art walks and events that go on every month.

Oh, and I also found this one http://www.visitseattle.org/cultural/#search which you might want to look through.

I asked my boss about it (he's an artist that shows in Foster/White, Chihuly ALSO shows there) and he said to point you at Pioneer Square because there weren't any real big events going on this month that he knew of.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you at Sakura-con! And I hope that helped. *waves*
