Still home

I got myself a rapid COVID test yesterday. It was positive. Marc and the kids tested positive Sunday so we'd been quarantined up at home, but I thought maybe we were on the end of it, so if I got a negative test then it'd be a good sign? No good sign. Oh well.

It’s not a bitchy entry. You’re dealing with being sick in the middle of a pandemic, you can give yourself a break. This all really sucks legitimately, and I hope it continues to be mild for everyone, and that you test negative soon.

I know it's horribly inconvenient but you can order wine as well. Or pay a friend or neighbor to drop groceries on the porch for you, including wine, so that you'll have better odds of getting the food you requested and/or they can call you directly to tell you if something's out of stock. Or that might be a huge ask of your neighbors/friends, idk. I'm really sorry for the situation that your family finds itself in, really difficult to endure. Healthy thoughts.

nah, the lack of wine is by choice. to support my husband's sobriety efforts there is no alcohol allowed in my house ever again. it's healthy for me, but I so miss it sometimes.

I had this idea that if we all got negative tests, why shouldn't we go? I was a little back and forth on even that, but really, why?

I know it's moot with the positive test, but...there wouldn't have been a reason for you not to go! You wouldn't have been spreading anymore and you would have had the extra immunity of just having had it (they're debating how long it lasts...between 3 and 18 months...and who knows with this strain...). Just having had COVID makes me feel a little more comfortable engaging in what I would have considered slightly riskier behaviors for a while. (Also I'm vaxxed and boosted and still mask, so...whatever.)

I hate when they leave out groceries! The store whose curbside pickup I use doesn't forget things (so far) but they are "sold out" of things sometimes and I especially hate when they don't have something I wanted for the very next day's dinner. Since we are just trying to prevent Covid and don't actually have it (to our knowledge - no tests available!) we do the bulk of the shopping online/curbside and then shuffle menus so the missing items can be picked up later in the week by running in and out of the store for just a few minutes. That being said, it would be great if one of your neighbors could pick up the missing items for you and leave them on your doorstep. I would totally do that for my neighbors.

May you all test negative soon!
