I always joked that I didn’t trust the American tech companies so why throw rocks at livejournal for being a Russian one?

But at least American tech companies aren’t trying to openly start WWIII. As a paid user, I have to think a little about who I'm supporting.

Is this the end for us, livejournal friends? Are you leaving?

I am sticking with lj for as long as possible, but I do have a DW account for backup. I’m Siglinde999 over there.

I don't know, does the Russian government own LJ? I thought it was a separate company. Not sure if it's still true, but when they first bought LJ, I'd heard that lots of dissidents used it. Anyway, I'm staying until they turn off the lights. I'm adding people to my DW account, but I keep forgetting to check it. I set up an account over there years ago, but never really liked it.

I've a permanent LJ account, so i'm not sending dollars Russia-wards. It's always possible network lines will be cut; Russia has fortified it's network perimeter so it can cut off in case of cyber attack.

I'm staying. This is the 3rd journalling website I've used. I've journaled online for almost 20 years, and in the process I've formed a very close-knit group of friends online. We all started out at the 1st website, which unfortunately closed, so we jumped to the 2nd one. Then it closed about 4 years ago, so several of us jumped here. Each time we move, more people out of the group drop off, and I miss them. I don't want to risk losing this way of communicating with the remaining few that I've known for so long. Some of us are friends on Facebook, too, but we don't write on there the personal stuff we share here. I love keeping up with them here.
