PBR Finals, Round 1!!

Oct 30, 2009 20:35

I do so adore PBR Finals!!!

Why have people apparently been expecting Kody Lostroh to fail. That just makes no sense - the guy's dominated most of the season.

Holy shit, that race is close. Marchi's under 300 points behind, JB's under 800.

Wow. Kody's led for the last 20 events, out of the 31 regular season events.

*grin* Wow. Cat Man Do, Pearl Snap, and Chester are in the round today. Far as I know, rank pen is tomorrow. Those are some good bulls to have in this round.

Picks for go-round win: Gaffney has Cody Nance, JW's picked Elliott Jacoby, McKee's taken JB.

Yay! featherjean just pointed out that Cord made the finals. Awesome!

And we're off!! First up is Ross Coleman vs Cat Man Do. And he gets the ride! Rough dismount, as he landed kind of on his head, but he's got ahelmet so it doesn't look like it hurt him any.

Michael Manes's up. Wow, that bull was all over the place, and he hung on for dear life, but went off in 6.2.

Brian Canter's back!! Wow, haven't seen him in ages, since he's been out for knee urgery. Bull's trying to climb out of the chute! Right, plus torn ACL after a motorcycle accident. Should be interesting ... wow! Bull is everywhere, but Canter made a great save when his foot popped up and got the ride! Nice!! And he's got the lead with an 88.5! And to think they were saying he probably wans't helthy enought o be here.

Luke's up, and ... beautiful. Solid ride!

Brian Herman's up. And he's off in 4.4. Didn't realize he'd be here - he's been out for a while, from injuries and getting cut from the tour.

Dude, Beau Hill's here!! Haven't seen him in months! Also, Zack Brown has Pearl Snap.

Back to riding. Bryan Richardson's next. Wow, that one was nearly very bad. He got bucked off right in front of the bull and took a nasty shot on the way down.

Caleb Sanderson is out, and goes off in 7.

Mike Lee! Only guy to win finals and championship in the same year. featherjean likes his victory spinning leap thing. Will we see it now? Yup! shitshitshit! Mike was doing his victory thing when the bull came rampaging over and interrupted, wow! He was doing the flip as the bull was coming up behind him!

Holy shit. Ryan McConnel got hit by a ddrunk driver earlier this week and is riding iwth a punctured lung. Wow. Can't turn down the finals when he's 6th in the world, though.

Beau Hill's up next. I din't even know he was here. Damn, he's off in 3.3. Bah.

Edimundo Gomes, the Brazilian qualifier, gets a ride. Very nice. 87.5.

Aussie qualifier David Kennedy went off pretty fast. Bummer.

Cord! Dammit! Went off hard and quickly. Fuck.

Kasey Hayes' bull is bouncy in the chute. And stumbling like crazy through the ride, and gets Kasey off halfway through. Not a good bull.

Gustavo Pedrero, Mexican qualifier. No BFTS rides before, and ... gets one now, looks like! Nice.

Cody Ford's next. Shorty picks him to ride for 87. Got the ride, looks like. Ouch, he's limping bad. They say he's fighting a bad groin tear. Got an 83 and change.

Yay! Just said that tomorrow is the rank pen, just like I thought. Score!

Aww, Apollo got hurt and is out of the world champion bull race. Sad.

Shane Procter got a ride! Very good ride, too!

Zane Lambert, Canadian qualifier. And he goes off in 4. So the qualifiers are 2 and 2, with the Mexican and Brazilian riding and the Australian and Canadian bucking off.

Elliott Jacoby's up - let's see how this does for JW's Battle for the Buckle pick. He's up against California Dreamin. Nice!! Good ride! Almost got run over by the bull at the end, though. Got an 87.5, so solid score, but no round win for JW.

Ben Jones and wow, that bull kind fo exploded. Gets Ben off in 5.7. He was just all over the place. Ben sure tried, but couldn't do it.

Skeeter Kingsolver's up. Aww, man, off in 4 and change. He's out of the rookie race, effectively - Cody Nance is leading by nearly $60,000.

McKennon Wimberley went off with some airtime.

Ednei Caminhas is up. Hmm, it's his 9th finals, nice. Up on Drill Baby Drill. And off in 2.8, ouch. He will not be getting a good pick in the rank pen draft tomorrow.

Cody Nance is up - Gaffney's buckle pick. Bull keeps bucking in the chute, which always brings back memories of Ross's wreck. He won't let Nance get settled properly. And now they're reviewing this season - 2 event wins. This would be why he's put the Rookie of the Year race out of reach. I do like having the rookie leader be someone who earned it on the BFTS, rather than on Challenger. Aww, and he went off in 3.3.

Cody Campbell's next, on North Star. Aww, so close! Off in 7.4. Got a little behind and then lost his rope. At least he'll get a halfway decent draft spot.

Aaron Roy vs Charlie Bullware. Nice ride!!! 10th ride of the round. Got an 88, so he'll be up high in the round. Wow, bull bucks off 93% of the time! Very nice. Got him tied for 3rd.

Brazilian with the unpronounceable name - Thiago Paguito - bucked off in 5.5. He got in by virtue of being the Brazilian national champion.

Josh Koschel gets a ride and dismounts on his feet and everything! 89.25 score! That's the round lead!

Rocky McDonald ... may have slapped, but the clock says he got it. He's turned himself around since the world cup. Gets an 86.5.

Pete Farley is the Ride with the Best, nice. Aww, off in 2.7. Damn.

Wow. They were looking at the past champions and how they finished in the year after their title win. Of them all, Justin did the best, finishing 6th in 2006. Everyone else was in double digits, with Chris Shivers and Mike Lee both down in the 30s. So basically, Marchi will almost certainly get the best finish of all past champions, even if he doesn't win.

Marchi's ridden 93% recently. JB's in the 60s and Kody's only in the 50s. Ouch.

Finally done with intermission, and wow! Travis Briscoe's bull just tried to climb out of the chute! But he got out eventually and got the ride for an 88.75. got him in 2nd.

Dustin Elliott's up. And ... I think he got it! 87.75. I can only hope that's a good omen for Kody - both his traveling partners have ridden, first Josh Koschel and now Dustin.

LJ Jenkins goes off in 4 and change. Bummer.

Austin Meier's turn. Damn, touched at 5.2 but hung on to the side for an extra second or so. Bummer.

Jesse Byrne, the blue bullfighter, is the first Canadian to fight at the world finals. and his dad was the first canadian to fight in the nfr. nice.

Chris Shivers slapped at 5.2, but the bull fell down shortly after he left the chute. Stumbled onto his knees. He's looking to see if he gets a reride, but he may not - he recovered atfter the stumble. And yay! They're giving him the reride.

Sean Willingham next on Tighty Whitey. Aww! I thought he had that! Went off in 7.

Wiley's up! Shorty predicts a ride for 89.5. No! Hit the buzzer, good. They called him off at 7.9. Aww, called him at 7.5. Damn.

Renato Nunes is next. Off in 2.8, and nearly hung up. He's going to get a lousy pick tomorrow.

Robson Palermo's up and rides. Good ride. 86 has him in 12th, wow. That's some high scores.

Ryan McConnel's up - they keep showing what's left of his truck after his accident. C'mon ... Beautiful! Got it, and it looked fantastic. Dude couldn't fly to Vegas for fear of further damaging his lung, but he can ride a bull beautifully. 88 points, has him in the top 5.

Valdiron is up. Except his bull won't settle, so they've moved on to Zack. Whose bull is trying to throw him off a little early. Aww, man. Got further and further behind, went off in about 6. Jesse Byrne took a shot for him, since Pearl Snap wanted a piece of someone.

Chris Shivers is up for his reride now, as I think they're running another bull in for Valdiron. Off in 2.9, damn. There's clearly a reason this bull is 2 for 12, and both rides have been by Zack Brown.

And now Valdiron's up. Bull's Stiffler. And ... Validron gets the ride, very nicely done. Gets an 86.

JB! Vs Chester. C'mon!!!! NICE!! that was gorgeous! Spurred through it, to! 89.75!! couple 23.5 rider scores, and he's got the round lead.

Marchi's up now. Wow. He's off in 3.4. WOW. He came out of the gate a little off, and lost his rope.

Kody!! And he rides!! Not a fantastic bull, but solid enough. He won't get a great score - 83.5 - but at least it's a score. JB's got the round win, while Kody gets the score but no bonus ponts. He's currently tied for 18th.

JB is now half a point behind Marchi, and 378.75 behind Kody. It is possible for JB to take the lead tomorrow.

Wow. That was an awesome round. Can't wait for the rank pen tomorrow!
