PBR Finals Round 2

Oct 31, 2009 19:36

Time for the rank pen. There's gonna be some fantastic bulls bucking tonight!

Also, am dead tired and horribly red from the airshow today, but it was worth the inevitable pain tomorrow just to see the Blue Angels. They are AMAZING.

But I may discuss that in a different post. For now, PBR!

Buckle picks: McKee picks JB on Troubadour to win the round. JW picks Valdiron de Oliveira on Spitfire, guessing a score of 92. Gaffney picks Kody on Lone Star. Always good to keep track of those.

First up! Cody Nance vs Firebird, goes off. Hahaha, Shorty just walked up to him and rubbed his head. Hmm, he's another one who rides in a face mask without a helmet. My Kasey Hayes recognition just got a little harder.

Cody Ford vs Tahonta's Shadow. JW's picking Cody if the bull goes to the left, the bull if he goes to the right. McKee thinks the opposite. And Ford goes off in 1.1, wow. And he hurts. McKee's reason for his opinion was Ford's injured left groin, which is apparently bothering him. A lot.

Kasey Hayes vs El Presidente. Kasey's ridden this bull to win earlier this season, but it won't happen again - went off in 4.7.

McKennon Wimberley vs Necessary Evil, off in 3.8. He looks highly displeased.

Wow, lots of guys competing with injuries. Zack Brown, Chris Shivers, of course Canter and McConnel, Luke, among many others.

Next, speaking of Luke, he's up against Secretary of Soul. Bull's 1 for 2. Make that 1 for 3, bah. Luke went off fairly quickly and doesn't look too happy about it.

Wow, Uncle Buck, 1 for 22. And the one is Marchi. What unlucky bastard got him? Ouch, Cody Campbell picked him 21st. And went off in 1.4. Wow. That bull just exploded.

Brian Herman vs Pinball Wizard. He's competing in his 12th finals, which ties him for 3rd all-time. Brian went off in 3.8.

Bryan Ricahrdson vs Skyhawk Cut-A-Rug, and wow! He almost made it, but touched at 7.4, damn! They've put it under judge review, though, so we'll see what happens. Apparently that bull was the latest pick of all the bulls that have bucked so far. I'm not sure exactly who was dead last, honestly. Back to the ride, wasn't a good out for the bull - didn't spin till fairly late. Lots of cheering in the background ... nope, was for something else. Called Richardson at 7.66. Pity.

Still no rides - bulls are 8-0. Wow. I love the rank pen.

Rocky McDonald vs Hot Stuff makes it 0-9. Goes off in 2.3.

Skeeter Kingsolver vs Commotion, makes a good show of it but goes off early anyway.

Mike Lee vs Ricky Bobby. Shorty's pick: the bull. But ... aww!!! Mike loses the rope at 7.8! Damn! Got flipped in the air on the way off, too. Looks like he's challenged, so we'll see what their answer is. Answer is no, and his time moved down to 7.47, which may cost him a couple picking spots in tomorrow's draft. Actually it's already cost him one, since Bryan Richardson's 7.66 just moved ahead of him.

Caleb Sanderson vs Sting Machine, off in 5.5. Bull doesn't want to leave the arena - keeps bouncing around and giving these arrogant glares to the bullfighters.

Bulls: 12, Riders: 0

Dustin Elliott vs Lucky Strike. And there's Kody, helping Dustin on the chute. Last night all three of that set of traveling partners rode, and it's off to a good start tonight as Dustin rides! First ride of the night for an 86.25!

Ednei Caminhas vs Big Mike. Clock stopped at 2.0, and he went off before the whistle anyway. He's holding his elbow and looks like he hurts. Not sure why the clock stopped, although I think it's moot. Ah, DQ'd for a spur in the rope. That'll give him a lousy pick.

Canadian qualifier Zane Lambert vs unridden Cool Spot. Who remains unridden, getting Zane off in 3.6 with an explosion of bucking. Bull score of 44.75, very nice.

Ooh, talking about Chad Berger and the bulls he has here - Big Tex, All In, and Copperhead Slinger. Nice.

Josh Koschel vs Say I Won't Gunner. More Kody on the chute. Not as good a night for him as for his traveling partner - Josh got flung off in 3.3.

Michael Manes vs Smack Down. Bull's 1 for 2, and shit, almost sends Michael into the front of the chute. Fortunately whoever's holding him manages to keep his head off the chute. And off in 2.2. He's dealing with a messed up neck that's causing weakness in his riding arm, so he can't keep his hand shut very well.

Ben Jones vs All In. Ouch, I know that wasn't a high pick, but ... aww, I thought he might get it! Went off in 7.4. Still only the one ride.

Mexican qualifier Gustavo Pedrero vs Copperhead Slinger. This could be interesting. Wow, Copperhead slings Pedrero around like a rag doll and gets him off in 5 and change. Ty's predicting that we'll soon see a really rank bull rider out of Mexico.

Yup, my guess on Marchi was right - he picked in the bottom 10. Thought that was where his time should land him.

Beau Hill vs Show Time. aww, thought he might get it but he went off when the bull changed direction. Bummer.

Cord! Damn, goes off Bells and Whistles in 4.1. But he's still smiling! As always. Aww, apparently he got engaged today! How cute!

Shane Proctor vs King of Hearts. Ooh, did he get it? Clock says yes ... no review ... and he gets an 88.75 and takes over the lead! 2nd guy to ride, and both of them have ridden 2.

Thiago Paguioto vs Voodoo Child. Off in 4.9. 46 bull score, which'll help him in the bull race.

Ross Coleman vs the Game, goes off in 3.1. Bah.

David Kennedy vs Avalanche. Poor bastard. He bucked off yesterday in 2.2 and got the leftover bull in the draft. Which would explain why he ended up with Avalanche, who has never been ridden except by Justin McBride. PS: Aussie qualifier.

Edimundo Gomes, Brazilian qualifier, vs Code Blue. Bull is very calmly staring in the camera. Off in 5.2 and nearly gets his leg kicked. 46.75 bull score, awesome.

Bones! vs Pete Farley. Picked 42, and holy shit!!!!! Pete Farley just rode Bones!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! He's got 2 24 rider scores, and a 93.25!!!!!! WOW!!! Pete picked 42nd of 44, too - 3rd to the last pick, he ended up with Bones, and he rode him! Awesome!!

On to Elliott Jacoby vs Mellow Yellow, unridden in 1 out. And off in 2.5.

Final ride for tonight, Aaron Roy vs Hot Pistol. Aww, thought he had it but went off in 7.6. The top 15, annoyingly, will be aired on CBS tomorrow. Now i can't look at Twitter till after the end of the round airs. *grumbles*

Heh. After his ride, Pete was calling his brothers in Australia.

Man, tomorrow's matchups will be epic. Big Tex, Troubadour, Spit Fire, plus I don't think we've seen Chicken on a Chain yet.
