I'm considering moving all of my fanfiction (except for the really old pre-2001 stuff) to archiveofourown.org based purely on the fact that I'm tired of having all my stuff scattered across the Internet. Turtlecest holds most of my embarrassing tmnt fic that isn't posted elsewhere (which isn't as embarrassing in light of the fact that ao3 has a ( Read more... )

You should do what you feel comfortable doing. Archiveofourown isn't as visited as ff.net but if you're feeling insecure about your stories staying posted, they're a pretty good place to put them. I've never lived in any fear of fanfiction.net deleting my stories and I've been with the site since 2000. In my opinion, they only seem to enforce the content guidelines and delete stories if someone "rats out" the author to the people who run the site. I still keep seeing pretty explicit stuff on there, some that are fics that have been on there for years.

Yeah I know. But I have a friend who write pretty much non-explicit stuff and still gets deleted. If anyone at all decides to dislike me all of my ff.net stuff is gone.

You had more... PG-13 stuff though, if I remember correctly. :)

Huh. I wonder why she gets deleted? That is so unfair that stories get deleted just because someone doesn't like them. The claims ought to be investigated with SOME sort of depth.

Most of the stories I've written in recent years are usually M rated now because of adult themes/language/content. I write fics with adults in mind, but they can be for anyone mature enough to handle them. Most of the time the age range I write for late teens/twenties and beyond is what reads my work so I have to say I am reaching my target audience.

I think I have an invite code if you need one. I really love it as a backup archive.

AO3 is heaven.
When they get their tag filtering back up, I will <3 it even more. As it is, it's got more higher quality content that ff.net. However, I still check both - some things can only be found in one place or the other.
