After biting on a deal I found on the coupons forum, I finally got myself a satellite radio receiver. I'd been tempted to get one for a while, but after weaseling my way into getting $150 of equipment free by committing to a year of service, I decided to go through with it.

YAY for satellite radio! I cant tell from the picture - which service did you get? I may be a chump, but I'm definitely going to get Sirius by the time Stern moves.

I got Sirius. I had already decided on getting Sirius at some point once Howard announced his move; he entertains me far too much daily for me to be left out in the future. The deal I got on the equipment was actually part of the promotion he did in NYC last week, some internet folks got a hold of promotional coupon codes that he was giving out to fans on Thursday.

It was kind of an impulse decision on my part, but I would've gotten it eventually anyway and at least this way I save money on equipment.

How much did this wind up costing you total?

The equipment was free for me (usually $100 for the receiver and $50 for the docking station, which is the antenna and audio hookups and crap,) but I had to get a year of service. Fortunately, they also give you one of your twelve months free when getting a year of service at once, so it was $12.95 * 11 = $142.45

Kind of pricey, yeah, but it would've been $292.45 if I hadn't gotten the deal, so I couldn't pass up.

Hmm.. I don't listen to enough radio to make it worth it...

Maybe if they made a dedicated synthpop channel, and a dedicated ebm channel....

Then just maayybe... :P

While it's definitely lacking both of those, the "classic alternative" station plays a lot of Depeche Mode. Not your typical radio Depeche Mode either; in the past day, I've heard Never Let Me Down Again and Behind the Wheel. Maybe the DJ just likes Music for the Masses a lot or something.
