bailout, stimulus, and other dirty words

We bailed out Wall Street, got within a frog hair of bailing out the auto makers (which could still happen), periodically bail out Amtrak and the USPS, and now... newspapers have their hands out. I'd rather the money went to them than the Big 3. Ever watched "Who Killed the Electric Car?"? The Big 3 deserve to go under for keeping their heads in the sand for so long.

This...is a tough one. TV journalism is rife with sensationalism and bias. Internet news often doesn't have editorial screening. I'm not talking grammar and spelling control. I mean checking to be sure the story is true and reported in an unbiased manner. Over the years, newspapers have developed ways to do this.

I'd be more comfortable with the switch to electronic media if there were checks on the information it offers.

Of course, then it won't be free, but I doubt it will remain free after the newspapers are gone in any case.
