Everyone says Happy Easter, Christians, non-christians a like. Is that a sign of its level of commercialization?

In very much the same way with Christmas, Easter has become more than just a religious holiday. It's really become more a tradition. In my eyes, when people say "Happy Easter," it's more of acknowledgement of the fact that it's ingrained into our culture than anything else. So while, to many, the original meaning has been diluted, it's really an acknowledgement of the unique place that Christianity has in American society.

As for commercialization, you have to realize that a market existed before companies entered it. That suggests that there was a presence in society regarding Easter and similar holidays; the commercial sector didn't just create it. While they may feed off of each other, I definitely think that Easter isn't even close to the level of commercialization that Christmas has experienced.
