Okay, it's been a bit since I wrote in this journal, but I really want to take a moment to give my congratulations to the good people who graduated this January from the Writing Popular Fiction Program.  I'm very proud of you and very sorry I didn't get a chance to hear your thesis presentations.  From what I hear, the presentations were wonderful ( Read more... )

SO GLAD TO SEE YOU POSTING!!!

And thanks so much for sharing your experiences. I know when I was a kid, I loved British Lit, but I was a strange bird. I got out of the habit of reading for a long time though, until I graduated college, so I can see how being "forced" to read canon can make reading feel like a chore.

I hope you keep us updated on how your Spec Fic class goes. :) I would be glad these courses are at least electives, but I can see your frustration with administration.

Great post. If I hadn't read that trashy spec fic as a kid I would have never gone on to get my Master's.
