Vector Prime hoped that this would be the last time for a few months that he would have to come out here. Not that he didn't like the cold, but Cybertronians and humans were both not designed to function in such extreme temperatures. He adjusted his scarf with his free hand, looking up towards the sky in calm patience.
Next to him, Shockwave waited. And waited. And finally frowned, wrapping his arms around himself. Not that he'd minded helping Vector, so long as the ancient Cybertronian shared with him the theories behind the work, but this was cold, even for him.
It would have been so easy to warm up...and melt the snow with it, and possibly Vector. This wouldn't have been a good thing.
"How much longer will we have to wait?" he pressed. Vector looked over his shoulder and smiled, shrugging a little.
"Not long. They should align soon."
"Align?"
"The planets."
"We are waiting for the planets to align?"
"That is correct. This is delicate work, and I won't make any mistakes in it." Vector was certain that he'd accounted for everything - and if it failed, he was just as certain that it would simply fail to work at all. Harmless. He touched the silk in his other arm, which covered a large object about a foot and a half in diameter. The fruit of the year, nine months, and some hours he'd been here.
Feeling the time grow closer - minutes, now - he removed the protective covering, handing it to Shockwave. Underneath was something that had never before been seen on Earth - indeed, he had to use all his knowledge to create it. Specialized crystal, turned in to a seed and grown through time loops thanks to young Aradia, then carefully cut in to a shape that could handle the power he had converted with Ghosts's assistance and adaptation - this had taken time. And he wouldn't have dared it if he hadn't spent time here, studying the make up of the planet, the reality, the very fabric of spacetime...
Others had made mistakes because it was not their purview. And even this was not meant to tear through the world in to another - only offer a boost to his own capabilities. From there, it should be possible to do more than wait here for the Porter to send him back where he belonged - with the power of the Cyber Key he had crafted, fueled by the very life force of Earth and its peoples, native and not, he could focus himself as he did through Rhisling.
Ignoring the chill, icy wind, Vector took some steps forwards, preparing himself. The location was just as important as the timing - the atmospheric hole would lend itself well. Once the position was as clear as though he'd stepped on a large 'X' written on the snow and ice, he released the key and took a step back.
The key remained in midair, crystals reflecting the light invitingly. Vector smiled at it, proud of work, and then began.
"Cyber...key..."
The slow words were followed by him circling his arms, then raising them over his head - not dissimilar from the opening movements of a kata. Then he lowered them forwards, one gripping the other's forearm. His palm came to rest on the center symbol - suggestive of the Earth itself - as he said the final word.
"POWER!"
From Shockwave's point of view, Vector Prime simply erupted in to flames. Not the red ones of his brother, the Fallen - blue ones streaming from the Cyber Key, flowing over the 'man' but causing, as far as Shockwave could tell, no pain.
It was nonetheless mildly alarming, and he watched carefully, ready to move if this experiment of Vector failed. But from his standpoint, he could not see everything.
He could not feel as Vector did, when the Firstforged's red eyes widened in surprise - and then alarm.
He could not see Vector starting to pull his hand away, realizing too late that something was going very wrong.
He could, however, see the explosion that followed, knocking Vector back hard enough to leave a path in the snow before he came to a stop. Shockwave spun around, only distantly noting the crystalline shattering sound - and then the paths that spread across the sky, the very opposite of meteorites as they flung from Earth to atmosphere, and beyond.
