They DO sound scripted, don't they? But yes, how interesting it is that you can't even slip and fall on the ice in front of your house nowadays without it becoming a viral-vid. :P
At any rate, I remember this day so clearly. I was in third fourth grade and we were all getting ready to head back to class from the lav when Mrs. Kress (third grade TEACHER, anyway :P) told us of the disaster. Very, very surreal. RIP.
I was about the same age. We were outside the classroom watching the launch (west coast of Florida.) Suddenly we were all rushed back to class, all talk of the shuttle stopped, and the day went on as normal. It wasn't until I got home I found out what we had seen and why we were rushed back to class.
I guess your teachers thought you could handle is better than we could? Or maybe the adults were in shock from seeing it happen. Who knows...
Well, if you were actually there, that brings some serious realism to it. We weren't even watching it on TV, we all just knew, "Ooh, cool, space shuttle's goin' up!" and went to class. If you guys were standing there as lil' guys, perhaps a good lot of you would have gotten very upset being told, "Um, they all just died." Amazing that you saw it though. It's one of those "Where were you when..."s.
