Random thoughts on latest BSG episode
This is more a collection of babblings than a coherent review, so be forewarned.
OMG OMG OMG TOM ZAREK.

I love Tom Zarek oh so much. He's so deliciously... ambiguous. I squee-ed when I saw "Guest Star Richard Hatch" in the opening credits. The scene with him and Lee was interesting, like most of the scenes with the two of them are. (Haha. It's the Apollos.) Lee's so impressionable. He really does seem to take the side of the last person he talked to. And Zarek... oh, Zarek. "So... do you know what's up with the president? She's getting a little power-hungry, isn't she? Here, have a look at this classified file. But wait - if you're thinking I'm out to get her, you're wrong. All Laura wants is to save everyone, and I'm on her side." It's like he's putting Lee into a little maze and watching him try to find the cheese.
Also, Zarek + gavel = OTP
I did manage to get 2 caps of Roslin and Zarek on screen together. Here they be!
Best part about this episode:

It started like it always did, with a body. This one was in the river. I could tell she had once been beautiful but this bullet and a fast current had taken away from her; all we are, all that we think we are, all that we are certain about is taken away from us. When you've worked the streets and seen what I've seen, you become more and more convinced of it every day. Caprica City had been my teacher, my mistress. From the moment I open my eyes, she's in my blood like cheap wine, bitter and sweet, tinged with regret. I'll never be free of her, nor do I want to be. For she is what I am, all that is and should always be."
SO much better than where we left them off last episode. Adama/Roslin FTW.
Okay, onto the things that weren't so great.
WHAT THE FRAK TORY FOSTER. I HATE HER. TREACHEROUS CYLON WHORE.
Tigh... getting on my nerves. Never really liked him, though. He can just sort of stay as is.
Oh, Tyrol. It really sucks to be you right now. First you're a Cylon, then all that shit goes down with your wife, then she finds you out, and then she clobbers you with a wrench and you never see her again. He doesn't handle relationships so well, does he?
I felt really sorry for Cally this episode, especially in the scene where she was talking with Cottle. "Maybe I am crazy. How else would you describe someone who all but proposed to a guy right after he broke your jaw?" "Has he ever... laid hands on you again?" "No, but sometimes I wish he would." It was a really sad way for Galen and Cally's relationship to end. Just goes to show that the least dysfunctional couple on the show is STILL the toaster and the guy that shot her twice.
For a while I thought Nicky was going to get the airlock too, and in some ways, I think that would have made a good plot twist. That would make Hera the only human/Cylon hybrid again. It'll be interesting to see what this means for Chief and his son, though. And speaking of Hera, where is she?? On the Demetrius with her parents, Starbuck, and company? Bet that's making things interesting. I can see the conversation now:
Hot Dog: "I think Hera pooped again."
Gaeta: "Dammit, how much poop can one baby make?"
Sharon: "Babies poop, Felix. Everybody poops."
Helo: "No, it's not her, it's just the smell of the damn ship."
Oh, third best part of the episode: buff Asian guy with the tattoos (aka Salty) is on the Demetrius! Did y'all see him? Where Starbuck goes, Salty is not far behind.

Quorum of Twelve... bunch of babbling prats. Laura Roslin = epitome of self-control. If that was me I would have taken Zarek's gavel and flung it straight into the forehead of the Sagitarron delegate. They're acting like she's already dead. Lee, learn to keep your mouth shut. Tom, stand up for your leading lady. Quorum, shut your pieholes. The Zarek/gavel team means it's time to quit your bitching and pay attention.
And... the Cylons!! Oh, Cavil, you are a bad, bad robot. If those events in the last Cylon scene play out like Cavil wants them to, then I think the only Sixes and Eights who remain are Caprica-Six on Galactica, Sharon Agathon on Demetrius, and Boomer, with Cavil. (head!Six doesn't count.) And where's Leoben? He was with the Sixes and the Eights on the whole stop-lobotomizing-the-Raiders thing. Did Cavil take him out, too?
And as far as far as the situation on Galactica goes... with Gaeta and Helo Earthbound, Tigh sneaking off to Skinjobs Anonymous, and Adama having storytime with his sweetheart, just who the frak is steering the ship?
Second best part of the episode: No Baltar!
