And show Daniel he does. The trap he's laid is a thing of beauty, and he and Daniel flush one out of the bushes and drive it into the net, almost losing it four times in fifty yards. A Glass Spider is not actually a spider at all, but a chitonous mammal. That is part of what makes them so dangerous. Actual giant spiders can't catch or transmit the frothing sickness, and Glass Spiders can. This one doesn't look sick, at least, but he nearly loses a finger binding its jaws. Two slabs of rock weight down all eight legs, leaving Ghost Rat free to perform the most dangerous part of their task. He stands over the creature with a mallet raised. If even one leg gets free, they'll be lucky to get out of this without getting maimed ( ... )

Your shameless world-building just happens to include the miracle of Rorschach being unreservedly happy, reveling in good luck like a kid, and hugging Dan. How can I not love it!

The action was fun and exciting and cool as well. The description at the end made me imagine their treasure quite clearly, and feel happy that they had found it.

I myself would be perfectly happy with anything you decide to write in this AU. Your worldbuilding is as delicious as your character development and plot, as this part proves again.
