Dan glanced up at a gray sky that threatened rain and quickened his step. He was due to give a lecture for the Wilson Ornithological Society and hoped to catch the subway before the inevitable downpour. He kept his head down as he walked and rapidly scribbled in his leather-bound notebook. The wind blew a lock of hair in his face and he sighed, feeling flustered and unorganized. He was a terrible public speaker

Thwack. Thwack.

Dan stirred at the sound of flesh hitting…something. Bodies falling in matching heaps. There was an angry yell that Dan realized was coming from a Topknot's mouth, and then he heard the chains clattering against pavement. Opening his eyes, he guessed what had happened but couldn't believe it. He didn't believe in Good Samaritans anymore.

Whoever you are, I could kiss you, he decided too soon as he rose on shaky legs and turned around.

It was him. The Sandwich-Board Man. It was almost absurd, seeing the short, thin man towering over the beaten bodies of three Topknots. The two who had laughed when Dan was hurt hadn't heard him sneak up behind them, and they had fallen from blows to the head just like the one they gave Dan.

Dan cleared his throat but the man didn't notice him. He was busy slamming the front of his sign against Chains' face. The Topknot was down but the man didn't stop. Thwack, thwack, thwack. The plywood cracked and broke into splinters, and then the man was wielding the handle like a baseball bat

Very nicely written. I could picture Walter and Dan acting this way. This made my evening. ^___^

-Rorschach starts becoming sexually attracted to Nite Owl, gets freaked out about it and starts avoiding him, becomes increasingly angry and violent because of all the repressed tension leading to one of those confrentations where he grabs Dan and kisses him to prove that he's a horrible pervert, and when Dan doesn't hate him he just gets more confused and angry until Dan convinces him that he has to give in (to the gay sex) before it becomes worse. During the...that follows, Rorschach realizes Dan is enjoying this, accuses him of liking it, and gets adorably befuddled when Dan replies that he likes it because its with Rorschach

Rorschach finally snaps.
Doesn't really matter how or why, (could be a continuation of the rape-fic) but I really want to see Rorschach go fucking nuts and then have Dan talk him down from it.
