baudown posted 10 random facts about herself, and by commenting, I was assigned the number 9, i.e, to post 9 random facts about me. If you comment, I give you a number, and you have to do the same, etc., etc
Fascinating (or not!) facts below.
1. I have an addiction to eating frozen peas as a snack - straight from the freezer - and I eat about 3kg of them a week. Sometimes more. My 13yo son also shares this. We go through a lot of bags of frozen peas!
2. I have a huge aversion to sand. I loathe the stuff. This is all the more weird when you realise that I moved from the UK to Portugal and now live 5 minutes walk from the beach.
I don't visit it, if I can avoid it.
3. I'm a classically trained musician and have sung in places as exotic as Florence and Venice (including solo singing at St Marks and in Florence Duomo.). It's my claim to fame.
There isn't a day goes by when I don't regret giving it up.
4. I LOVE tattoos. I would have hundreds of them myself if I wasn't married to somebody who doesn't share my opinion. It's probably a good job that my husband hates them otherwise I'd be a walking picture gallery!
5. I have a very weird phobia which is very difficult to explain. Small dots, or spots, or multiple protrusions. The best way I can describe it is like when a tree drips into snow and makes it all dotty. Or like the roots of dolls hair, or magnified hair at the roots. You'd be surprised how many things completely freak me out because of this particular phobia (crumpets, for example, and stubble) and my (dearest) husband can often be seen chuckling as I am close to hysterical!
6. I'm currently happily married (nearly 19 years now) but it hasn't been an easy path. Far from it. I've sacrificed a lot for our marriage and my husband has forgiven a lot. These days, I can't imagine not being married to him. Which is something that, at times during the last 22 years we've been together, I could not have imagined saying.
Huh, that turned out to be a bit soppy, eh?
7. On a lighter note, I long to be ginger. Proper orange ginger. As a child, I turned from ash blonde to ginger, but as an adult it has just turned into a dull, mucky brown (and...ermm... grey). Nowadays, I have to dye it ginger instead, but I have massive ginger envy (my kids are various shades of ginger) and I want so much to be proper ginger. *stifles a sob*
8. I've never wanted a daughter. Ever. I was thrilled to have a boy first and, when we got pregnant a second time, was thrilled to have a boy again. Everybody assumed I'd want a girl. I didn't. And I still don't!
I also know exactly why this is, but I'm not going to go into it.
(Disclaimer: that's not to say I wouldn't have been able to love a daughter. Obviously, I would. I just have never and still do not have any desire for one.)
9. I am very 'particular' about the way my laundry is hung. I can't bear for anyone to hang it for me (and have been known to re-hang other people's hanging). I put this down to the fact that I hate ironing and washing-hanging, for me, is a way to dry efficiently while minimising creased. I know I'm probably a bit OCD about it but, then again, it really is the ONLY aspect of my life that could be remotely thought of as being so!
So there you go guys and gals.
Told you it's be fascinating!
