Sometimes I am amazed by the fact that people in England and people in the States claim to speak the same language:

what = wot
something = sommat
hello = hiya
thank you = ta
eggplant = aubergine
very = well (something very pretty, it's well pretty)
cute/hot = fit
really = proper
college = uni
think = fink

any girl is a lass

any guy is a lad

love is a proper

Some of that stuff is just dialect. "Wot", "sommat", etc.
Especially in Leeds, I'm thinking.
