article about the season to come (lorelei gets a dog!), from the Seattle Times:
I do... NOT know if Lorelai marries Luke
By Pamela Sitt
If you are a fan of "Gilmore Girls," then we can be friends. If not - well, then, I never liked you anyway.
Last season ended with Lorelai proposing to Luke, all of a sudden, in the diner. His response: "What?" My response: "Whaaat?"
So there I was at The WB party at Cabana Club in Hollywood, minding my own business and taking glamour shots in the photo booth with Lauren from "Beauty and the Geek," when suddenly I spotted Luke (Scott Patterson).
I went into a little bit of cardiac arrest. Then I pulled my notebook out of my purse - dorky, I know - text-messaged my friend Merideth (who is still mad at me for not taking a picture of Luke with my camera phone, as if I know how to operate it), and headed over.
Luke is really quite handsome in person. He was a little sunburned, and clean-shaven, in jeans and a striped cowboy-style shirt. He also looked like he lost weight and got a haircut. No baseball cap or plaid flannel in sight - yes, Luke cleans up nice.
Only as I was standing there, trying not to be shy, another reporter swooped in. Curses! Fortunately, "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was standing right next to him, and she's really the one who has all the scoop on the new season. So I asked her: "Does Luke say yes to Lorelai?" And she said, "You will get an answer in the first 10 minutes."
Sherman-Palladino was drinking a gin and tonic and wearing a white top hat and lots of costume jewelry. I thought maybe if I talked to her long enough, and she got drunk enough, she might spill some secrets. But then I foiled my own plan by asking her to drink faster: "I'll have one more drink and I'll tell you what happens on 'Arrested Development.' "
Here's what she did tell me about the sixth season of "Gilmore Girls," premiering at 8 p.m. Sept. 13 (KTWB):
• Lorelai will get a dog. "It's going to be a very neurotic dog," Sherman-Palladino said. "It's based on our dog, Clara. She's a chow."
• Logan Logan Logan! is a regular next season. Rory, having dropped out of Yale, is suddenly without a plan, while Logan is facing his senior year of college and dealing with his parents, who want him to get serious about his life.
• Paris moves in with Doyle.
• Liza Weil (Paris), who has the best skin Sherman-Palladino has ever seen in her life, originally auditioned for the role of Rory. "I created Paris for her. I didn't want anyone else to have her," she said.
• Richard and Emily have Rory in their clutches for the first time. Lorelai is estranged from her parents all over again.
• There will be continued story lines exploring Lane's relationship with Zach and the band.
After that, I was on this weird "Gilmore Girls" high and ran around the party breathlessly stalking every cast member I could find. Very uncool of me; I probably won't be invited back next year.
The highlight of my evening was talking to Logan Logan Logan (Matt Czuchry). I admit it took me a while to warm up to Logan's character. He's not the guy in the PG-13 movie. But in person, I was instantly smitten. He was adorable in jeans, a white button-down shirt and a black blazer, and has the same easy charm as his character.
"Logan is not a bad guy," said Czuchry, 28 (Taurus!). "He's spontaneous and he lives in the moment. Logan brings out an exciting side of Rory. ... My favorite line from last season is, 'I think I've been a bad influence on you, Ace.' "
Also at the party:
• Lorelai (Lauren Graham): Don't even get me started on how she was robbed at the Emmy noms. Lorelai is beautiful in person. She was wearing a silvery lavender top, black Bermuda shorts, silver strappy sandals, and smoking a cigarette. I asked her if she was going to say yes to Luke. "I know what the answer is, but I can't tell you." Boo. Does she want Luke and Lorelai to wind up together? "It's an unpopular answer, but not necessarily. ... I like sort of a question in the air." Boo, again!
• Michel (Yanic Truesdale): It was a bit disconcerting to see snobby, buttoned-up Michel with spiky hair, wearing a ripped Diesel T-shirt, cargo pants and a studded brown leather belt. Michel fans need not despair; he will return next season: "You're not going anywhere, angel," Sherman-Palladino cooed. "Have another drink." He had a vodka and tonic.
• Richard Gilmore (Edward Herrmann): With a drink in one hand, hair a bit disheveled and leaning against a wall next to a decorative tree that kept trying to poke my eye out, Grandpa Gilmore told me that he "absolutely adores Lorelai" and "is an absolute doormat for Rory." So why can't they all just get along?
• Lane Kim (Keiko Agena): Lane smokes! What would Mrs. Kim say?
