It's so easy to picture yourself wasting away a la some Victorian vision of consumption when you've never experienced the reality of long-term illness, the indignities of hospitalization and losing your bodily functions one by one. The reality of dying of AIDS isn't romantic at all.
I am caregiver to a woman who had toxic shock syndrome. Besides the necrotizing fasciitis eating huge holes into her arm and leg, the virus attacked her spinal chord. She's incontinent, both bowels and bladder.
It's not fun. And 99% of the idiots who are romanticising a similar death won't have someone like me around to provide them with loving, compassionate, and respectful care. They'll be lucky if they get their diapers changed once a day.
I think that's a fringe element of complete asses and you know what? Darwin's Theory will deal with them. lol One can only hope that they're not polluting the gene pool with more idiots.
