OMG, yay. I love how real you make this family--you mentioned Narcissa's veins beating under her skin, and that's what they're all like. Including Harry, when we meet him. There's just enough physical notes to really make me "there" in ways that are sometimes chilling.

It's just kind of fascinating, actually, because there are fabulous details like the room made of Muggles (lol--tricky you with the Muggle furniture) that I can imagine being handled by someone else as really stylized, and yet you surprise me by making them so realistic, which gives them a totally different tone. Like the banality of evil, but maybe that's not right. The craziness of it in a realistic way. Yay!

Yay right back at you! :D Thanks so much for reading and I'm glad the physical detail works for you!

The craziness of it in a realistic way.

That's exactly what I was going for. :D

Thanks for commenting -- I really appreciate it.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the bit about the ribcage was stolen from r i d d l e's Beast and Butterflies. There's an awesome bit right at the beginning of the fic where Draco, after being inducted as a Death Eater, goes on a raid and the next day he VOMITS A CHILD'S RIBCAGE into his cauldron during Potions. LOL

*nostalgic*

Oh, I'm so happy this fic worked for you! I do have a fetish for houses that change and adapt to their owners (and vice-versa) ... I realized yesterday that it's a theme in a couple of my other WIPs as well.

*is one-trick pony*

But oh, I wish there wasn't only one book left. I keep trying to explain to RL people the huge amount of pain and loss this will leave in my life (and I have enough of that, anyway), and no one gets it!!!! I wish I could pay JKR not to release her book for a few more years! I don't feel like we've finished working through the issues of HBP whatsoever.

Anyway, thank you for being so sweet about my fics and so welcoming as I tiptoe (or should I say bellyflop?) back into fandom. It really means more than I can say. ♥

I was a bit sad when I read the release date, too. Now I'm excited to finally have it in hand, but I hate to think how the fandom will change in the wake of its release. I am not good at letting go.

Of course I would welcome you back! You will always be S., who was first to welcome me with such generosity and enthusiasm, to me. You should be the Official Fandom GreeterTM.

Wow, for me! And it has hope at the end and some self-empowering, even if Harry Potter has to be dragged along for that. So not mean this time around, even if it is just as honest. Who says honesty has to result in desperation? I got such a kiiiick from Draco deciding his father was an untrustworthy loon, especially when you set him up so transparently submissive before: Draco didn't even have to touch it, and the sensation of walking into the Manor without Father's hand on his shoulder to guide him nearly makes him stumble. And then the House choose him! I love how Draco thought the plaster didn't crumble the day before. Overthrow that tyrant ( ... )

Wow. This whole story had a very powerful feel to it from the beginning to the end. And to think that Malfoy Manor was almost like a living thing, choosing its master. Loved the possible H/D in the end. Thank you!
