wow...

i'm really sorry. it sucks to have the loss of sentimentally/functionally/monetarily valuable items compounded by the feeling of violation that comes along with some turd-face deciding that what's yours is theirs and coming into your space to take it.

you seem to be handling this incredibly well though. when my car was broken into 7 or so years back, i Lost My Shit and stamped and flailed around like a lunatic, screaming furiously. i can only imagine what a post documenting the event might have read like. perhaps i'd handle something like this better presently, but i'd still be pretty revved up.

hope the police come up with something.

Wasn't that when your CD's were stolen at the beach party we went to?

yeah, it was something like 100 cds, my wallet, and my cell phone. they found my wallet, emptied of all valuables, on the roof of a restaurant somewhere on the cape, like a month or two later.

Oh my dear, I am so sorry to hear this. I agree with Meghan though and you are taking it very well. It's one of those situations that is, for the most part, out of your hands.

When I was in middle school, 6th grade I believe, I was 10, our house got broken into and yeah they stole the tv and other crap, but the most damaging was the loss of all my mother's family heirloom jewelry. I think the ring I have is the only thing left, unless my Aunt Lesley has stuff I don't know about. Aside from being terrified of being in the house, the thing that I was most upset about was that my cat, who was an indoor cat and had just been spayed, was gone. Thankfully she came back later that evening. Because the front door was damaged enough that it wouldn't lock and my mother, sister and I were so terrified, my uncle Ricky spent the night at our house, with the couch pushed up against the door and a gun under the cushion. In retrospect, I believe that was a bit over the top, but at the time it seemed barely sufficient.

Sending much love your

My roommate and I have been joking about how if we ever needed guns, there's a huge pawn shop down the street that's got racks upon racks of them. Actually, I might drop by there over the next couple days to see if any of my stuff makes a miraculous appearance. Thankfully, Arlington PD has a special pawn unit that tries to match pawn inventory to listed robbery items. I just sent them a very detailed description of every one of my items. I'm not holding my breath for anything. My laptop was kind of a piece of crap at this point, and since all of it is backed up it's not that huge of a deal, but I'm most upset about my camera and the rings. I totally called Larry in tears last night. But yeah, it's my fault for not securing my sliding glass door properly and leaving my computer in plain sight. I should have known better. What can you do, eh? And that's a terrifying story by the way. :P Couch against the door huh? At least you guys were safe from a possible attack of homicidal zombies!

I shall keep my fingers crossed that the police find at least some of your stuff. As you might guess, I'm meticulous about locking doors and windows. I'm also paranoid about people being able to see into my apartment. Living on the first floor has its disadvantages, especially when there is a 3 story mini-apartment building right across the street from all my lovely living room windows and I've seen people on the third floor looking out their window. I keep the shades drawn most of the time. Much love my dear!
