Well in an ironic twist of fate, i now get to save you from the same mistake which ruined a good chunk of the last few months for me.
I applied to medschool last year and got in a few places, i deffered admission to go to mexico. When i reapplied this year i applied not only to the schools i deffered but to some new schools. Well apparently this is a HUGE no no. I almost got red flagged for it by the AAMC. Apparently being 'deffered' is a semi-binding agreement which indicates to the college that you will only be reapplying to that university and no others, and thats why they save a seat for you. If you end up going to another university other than where you deffered, the school you deffered has the legal rite to actually pull you out of the school you are enrolled in.
Crazy stuff, it happened to me, so i'm glad to pass the warning along.
