My dad is at camp victory now over in iraq.  He said today well i dont know if i can be there for the wedding. 
Then he told my mom that some guy who is going to be a grandfather for the first time is going to get to go home in sep or oct.  It depends on when the baby is born i guess.  This guy wants to be there when the baby is born.  I believe it

well, the military is really stupid in letting people come home or not sometimes. Lets hope your dad gets a leave.

I never really understood the military, their sense of who they can send over and keep them over baffles me.

Given his rank, he should be able to make an honest effort to get his leave situated at the same time as the wedding.
