What can I do to help?

So, I took a vacation day yesterday and, among other things, spent the day working on Piper's room. I washed the carpet (literally--hands and knees and everything), washed the dresser Mak and Indy were nice enough to give us, and washed 3 loads of itty bitty towels, blankets, and hand-me-downs. I also put away the beginnings of a very nice child' ( Read more... )

I remember feeling like this. It's really nerve-wrecking to know you're going to be responsible for a little human for the next 18 years.

Don't worry, you'll get over it. :) :)

but will i ever SLEEP???? I barely sleep now and can't imagine what it's going to be like when I HAVE to get out of bed to take care of her!

btw...did you have her in your room at the beginning or did she go straight to the crib?

No, forget about sleep. You'll be getting all your sleep in a series of naps. Sleep when she sleeps!! In a few months she should start sleeping mostly through the night. At around 5 months Ariana started to sleep from about 8pm to 6am, although most nights she needed a quick feeding around 2 but then she'd go straight back to sleep. Moshe and I took turns getting up with her. That really helped.

Ariana went to her crib...which was and still is in our room (we only have a 1 bedroom apt at the moment). We're going to buy a house in January or so and I think I'm going to miss her terribly when she gets her own room. I like being able to hear her breathe.

I witnessed a lecture from Amit recently on this lately. In your room, in a basket or something, not in your bed. This is the party line.

Something that I normally eschew on principle, but for you right now: I offer a *hug*

I suspect that you're as ready as you need to be. I think that terror is a normal part of this process. It terrifies me, and I'm a bit further away from it than you are...

Keep us posted on what you need help with.

I know right now I need help with: (1) organizing and putting away the MOUNTAINS of clothing that hasn't been washed yet; (2) Making a mix CD/MP3 collection for the hospital; (3)stocking my freezer with yummies of all sorts; (4) finding some good reading material for the hospital :)

And thank you for the *hug* you're not sick anymore, are you? :)
(how was your trip? are you coming out Saturday?)

4) You won't need it. Other people might need it, but that's their problem. :)

:) Any tips to pass on to The Don while waiting around the hospital? Did you stay over after she was born? We've been debating whether he should stay or not. I think he wants to, but I'm kind of thinking that ONE of us should get some decent sleep before the baby comes home.

Do you like pesto? We have quite a bit of basil and Sam makes a really kick ass pesto. We can make anything really.

I can help out with anything really. I have music ranging from Enya to punk rock to jazz. What are you in the mood for? A light and easy or rocking out kinda thing?

I am off on Friday but I have a baby shower at work that I'll be trucking in for in the evening. I'm also free this entire weekend. I'll give you a call later.
