I don't have any actual recipes from my mom (she just makes everything from her head and doesn't *do* recipes). But i found what seems like some good recipes on the internet.
Beware though... cooking good South Asian cuisine is a true labour of love. It's not like a stir fry or something that gets done in 20 minutes.. you gotta sit there and marinate and cook and blah blah for hours. But it's all worth it in the end cuz the food tastes soooo good! :)
I went a year or 2 ago. First I went to see my family in Italy with a few friends and then we went to greece. We had to take a boat over and we spent a night in some small village which name I don't even remember, then we took a bus into Athens. It's a beautiful place, like the islands and stuff, but Athens it's self is kinda scary, espeically at night. You'll be shopping and stuff and people will litterally almost pull you into their shops. Some guy did it to me and told me I was going to marry his son, take him back to america with me. You should definalty go though, it's beautiful there when your on the islands and stuff. Downtown Athens is just a bit sketch.

have you seen "i've heard the mermaids singing"? it's a queer canadian flick from the late 80s it's supposed to be the same director - patricia rozema... if you find it and rent it you'll be my BFF

Dude, let's do it up. I have heard of that film and think Patricia Rozema won some awards or something for it too didn't she? I wonder if she's queer since she's made so many queer films. I gotta say Canada does pretty well with the queer films. Go us!
I actually havn'et watched it lately, i'm sad. I just find that it's a show that's really misunderstood a lot of the time. People think it's ditzy, but i've always seen it as really clever. (I don't think A. likes it ;)). I also like how they focus on a strong relationship between mother and daughter, and both female characters are pretty independent-minded (even though they fuck up once in a while, but that's realistic).
