It's romantic because you take her somewhere with a good atmosphere, it's responsible because you realise you don't have the skills required for this and aren't going to be a jerk and let your date starve, and it's not proof of culinary independence but it is proof that you're willing to put this girls happiness and well being before your own selfish whims! Don't make a girl starve just because you want to play commoner!

That can't be argued. Still, most people I know would just order take out if they wanted to stay in and eat. That's just my experience though.
