Lots.

Just spent the weekend in New Mexico, celebrating Trista's graduation! I talked to family friends I haven't seen in over ten years.  Paul got introduced around.  We went to the Rio Grande Zoo & I got to tell Paul all sorts of anecdotes about my childhood.  My kitty is old & in terrible health.  My sister is all grown-up and making big choices.  You ( Read more... )

Never boring! What's the story with a studio at the Loft? Like, what does it get you?

Thanks for the encouragement!

A studio at the Loft is a room with a desk & a window, where you get access 24/7 on a space-available basis, but it's my understanding that there's almost always one open. So, you get a place with nobody else, no phones & no computer. The trouble is that it's a little outside the natural Tara territory (Tara-tory?) (I couldn't help myself.)

Haha! I love it (the pun).

So I was looking at the Loft's site a little bit, and I guess here's my two cents. Beyond your affinity for robots, I don't know you that well, so I'm not sure how applicable it is. Anyway, I can see the rationale for buying more than one month at a time, because the savings are pretty great, but I guess I'd be more inclined to go for the three? I mean, I could easily imagine a situation where you enjoy it for several months, but then... you've gotten what you came for, in a sense. If you wanted more, it'd only be $50 more than if you'd bought it all at one go, but if you wanted less, you're SOL if you bought it all up front ( ... )

Dang, thanks for the good advice. Maybe next year, if I've still been writing regularly at home/libraries/whatever, then I can look into a studio.

The point about karate being something I'm not doing right now was particularly resonant...I've done it in the past and I enjoyed it. I wonder if something physical & challenging will sort of clear my mind out so that I CAN focus when it's time to do the writing/dance things. Anyway, that's the current version of the story. I like the rearranging story thing, too. Excellent work all around.

It is sort of on my way home...that's how I've made it to Loft classes in the past, by scheduling them in immediately after work and just biking straight there. So, that is a good point.

HMMMM.

So, way late reply that's probably now irrelevant. But--

oh oh oh! Are you only interested in karate? Because I've been considering trying the Krav Maga place and we could enroll together... Although I can't promise I'd stick with it for 6 months tbh, just knowing how I am. I was thinking of trying it a month or 2 or 3.

The Loft would be pretty cool too, though.

Why don't you do 3 months of each? Or start a month or two of one and determine if you prefer to switch to the other?
