CRAP! so i had plans to try to move into management with darden(olive garden) gain experience and then open my bakery in about 5-7 years. in southaven my gm had a passion for creating leaders..and moving into management seemed like it would be easy..here my gm just got fired..and i recently learned that in the history of og hattiesburg, no one has ever moved into management..i really hope that my new gm will be cool and treat employees with the respect they deserve..at the very least..but my managers now....idk they don't have the same passion for their job as the southaven managers..they don't stick to basic olive garden rules and principles.. example- last time i worked a team member saw me taking a wine sample to a table and asked me "why? did they ask for that?"..in southaven we were required to offer it to every table.. today i explained to a guest that they would be charged $3.10 if they ate salad with their appetizer and they told me "i must be new, bc they have never been charged extra" in other words..not everyone is on the same page about doing their job right. and team work...is abysmal.. it's every man for himself.. it's really hard to work in an environment where no one cares about their job.. i feel like the reason my managers in southaven saw my potential is because i focus on three things..one i learned from best buy "have fun while being the best" two i learned from olive garden " take pride in doing it right the first time" and three is that i focus on teamwork and maintaining a positive attitude. it's really hard to maintain any of these when no one else is doing it..not even the "leaders".. .another thing i've noticed..the people in leadership positions seem to have the worst attitudes.. wtf? i really hope things tun around when we get our new gm..
