Dear Roommate,

I would just like to preface this by saying that your boyfriend is a nice enough guy (if a bit bland), and I'm glad that you guys don't disgustingly make-out/have sex in our apartment when the rest of us roommates are present. They might not have enough money to go out... my bf and I don't go out much because we're both poor college students, so we stay in and cook instead.

However, we don't always hang out in the living room and fawn over each other.

Have you and the other roommates tried being obnoxious when they're in there? They might get a hint...

Money might be an issue, but the thing is the seem to go out most Thursday nights to a bar near here (but with a large group, not just by themselves), and from what I've observed they can drink a lot, so I don't know why they can't occasionally take that money they would be spending and go to the movies or something every now and then. Plus I am a poor college student myself, and there have been times when I was planning on staying in due to lack of funds, and my roommate has tried to convince me to go out by offering to pay for ALL of my drinks and cab fare (which she has actually done, and actually didn't want me to pay her back the next day).

We've have been increasing our obnoxiousness in increments, but I think we might have to just straight up tell them to leave

Yeah, I think that straight-out bluntness would probably be the best bet.

Also, in regards to your addition, at least he didn't say "I'm going back to my room" in reference to your room...
