Floss everyday, twice a day?

I guess I don't get how making my entire mouth bleed is a healthy thing for my gums... it just feels like my teeth are in some sort of boxing match with the floss and they are getting the living shit kicked out of them... hmmm I guess no pain no gain at this point in my dental history... ouchy!
