I wouldn't stay; their weather and economy sucks, but the people and buildings are AWESOME. The castles are sooo so pretty!! (Especially Edinburgh and Hamburg, they're gorgeous)
Oh and I believe it's snowing there at the moment (started snowing when I left!) so you should get to experience a WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!!

Yeah, the weather and economy is rubbish at the moment (we were actually going to go to Ireland, but the folks we were going to stay with have been hit pretty hard by the economic crisis, so). But I totally agree about the castles! I stayed in Edinburgh last time, it was fantastic. We went up toe the highlands and saw loads of beautiful castles, too. Amazing.
We'll be in Salzburg for Christmas, so it should definitely be snowing there!

Errrr, just keep an eye out for your travel arrangements if you're coming to the UK - it's been snowing fairly solidly for about two weeks and the countries have, rather predictably, ground to a halt (BECAUSE WE CAN'T DEAL WITH ANYTHING THAT ISN'T MILD) so there might be disruption.

I think we're just going to have to hope for the best, re: snow. Weather is ridiculous, what can you do? Luckily we've got a fair bit of time, so getting delayed won't be a huge issue, anyway. We've had torrential rain here the past few days, so ironically I'm looking forward to going to England to get away from the rain.
