Holy incomprehensibility, Batman!
See if you can parse the following sentence (actually the first sentence of an article) from today's Albuquerque Journal:
"Watching the Fire Ritchie McKay Lollapalooza brought Rocky Bridges to mind."
Read that as "Watching the 'Fire Ritchie McKay' lollapalooza brought to mind Everett 'Rocky' Bridges."
As in, "observing the campaign to get Ritchie McKay [now-ex-head coach of the UNM basketball team] fired makes one think of the saying 'There are three things the average man thinks he can do better than everyone else: build a fire, run a hotel, and manage a baseball team' [attributed to Bridges]."
The ABQ Journal publishes the first sentence of the article under the headline, and I swear I read the article just so I could figure out what the hell the lead-in referred to. I'd been trying to figure out whether Watching the Fire, Ritchie McKay, Lollapalooza, and Rocky Bridges were all local singers/groups I'd never heard of.
