My life in soundbites

1. Gareth's green card arrived today. The picture is stupid but the important thing is the status change (from CR-6 to IR-6--that's Immediate Relative-Spouse instead of Conditional Relative-Spouse).

2. In you haven't been following my photojournal, I did get a new cell phone. The individualist in me is disappointed that the day after I bought it, ( Read more... )

4. Glad to be of service.

13. Well, actually the first thing I planned to paint was the cats' litter box, because we'd wanted a certain type but they discontinued it so we could only buy it in metallic gold (ick). So we spray-painted it to look like grey stone. And then, you may remember the symbol of my religion is a flaming chalice and I wanted to get a small one to put on a meditation altar, but the only candle-holder I found that resembled one was clear glass, so I spray-painted it blue (and painted the base dark bronze). Actually, 9 isn't really that old for cats. I've heard that indoor cats can live up to almost 20 years. My outdoor cat in PR is already 10 or so and she's still in pretty good shape.

By the way, number 4 made my laugh out loud. :-D

Although my parents' cat is about the same age as her and seems healthy on his Friskies. (But all my parents cats have died about the age of 12. So we'll see ( ... )

I was spray-painting stuff in my parents' front yard once, and the neighborhood kids were totally fascinated until I explained to them that it was actually perfectly legal to spray-paint something that YOU owned.

Yep, it was a mulberry tree. I'm not sure what to do with mulberries. I think you can do all the same things you'd do with any other edible berry -- jam, pies, etc. except that they're too squishy to be easy to just eat raw (plus IIRC they're not that sweet).
