[NAME:] Spark Brushel
[AGE:] 29
[GENDER:] Male
[STATUS:] Single
[SEXUALITY:] "Journalist Swears Up And Down He's Straight, No Reason To Doubt Him," end quote.
[FRIENDS:] Zak Gramarye: Brushel met Zak for the first time after Thalassa Gramarye, Zak's wife, 'died' in an accident during a rehearsal. Brushel initially intended to just interview him, but the two became friends (Brushel got punched five times in the process, apparently) and Brushel hung around, learning secret after secret of the Gramarye troupe. Zak's disappearance only made him more interested in the group, and he vehemently seeks out those who are connected to the group to interview them.
[ENEMIES:] Several of his former subjects probably hate him quite a bit (*cough*Valant Gramarye*cough*... end quote), but Brushel himself doesn't think he has any enemies.
[OCCUPATION:] Journalist
[HOBBIES:] More or less his work is most of what he does! Even in his spare time he's always sniffing around for a snoop, trying to find people to interview, and so on. Other hobbies include brushing his teeth and trying to figure out how the Gramaryes do their tricks.
[LIKES:] Writing articles, interviewing people, coming up with headlines, scoops... his job. And anything mint- he carries a pocket full of mint toothpicks around all the time for after his mint candies and mint gum.
[DISLIKES:] Being 'outscooped', particularly stubborn subjects who won't agree to an interview
[STRENGTHS:] none He's a very good journalist, despite his failings- his reputation as a fair and balanced reporter allow him to get interviews even with the most reclusive of subjects, and his hunches almost always prove correct. He's also good at coming up with headlines on the fly, although it doesn't really get much use.
[WEAKNESSES:] Due to his obsession with his work, however, he's a bit socially inept in everything else- he's annoying, constantly tries to use interviewing techniques in non-work situations, and constantly springing his ideas for headlines about the current topic (Even when the topic is something entirely mundane). Due to his tooth-brushing and mint-eating habit, a permeating smell of mint constantly follows him, and blasts whoever's unfortunate enough to be in front of him when he grins. Also he's a heroin addict because I feel like at this point everyone expects it of my apps!
[APPEARANCE:] Brushel is a rather tall, lanky fellow, with a small amount of brown hair on his head styled to look like the brushels of a toothbrush- he constantly carries a pen behind one ear to write his 'scoops' down, and on his hand are various notes that he writes on his arm when he forgets about his notepad (read: all the damn time). He wears a dress shirt and slacks, with a pinkish tie that he tucks into his pants- he also rolls his sleeves up all the time. Blah. He's fucked up looking. Seriously.
[PERSONALITY:] Brushel lives for his work. Almost nothing else matters to him; he constantly noses into everything that seems even relatively interesting, tries to interview everyone, sniffs out scoops in the most irrational situations... and so on. He's also well-known for being rather jumpy and hyperactive, bouncing around and doing incredibly outlandish things such as wrapping his tie entirely around his head and wiping his sweat away with a toothbrush. He's a good person, but due to his aforementioned obsession with his job he's a bit of an odd duck, and finds it hard to make friends.
[BACKGROUND:] Brushel started out as a relatively unknown reporter, doing small interviews and assisting others with their articles more than actually doing much work of his own; his career stayed slow until a certain job came up to interview Zak Gramarye, a member of the Gramarye troupe, after the death of his wife Thalassa in an accident during rehearsal. Brushel enjoyed the exclusive interviews Zak gave him, and Zak took advantage of Brushel's connection to the various rumors of the city- the two became good friends, and Brushel's career skyrocketed with the interviews and articles he could get from the various Gramarye shows and members.
This arrangement served the two well, until Zak was tried for the murder of Magnifi Gramarye, his mentor- disappearing after the scandal that filled the trial, Zak was never seen again, and his whereabouts are still unknown. Brushel still seeks out the secrets of the Gramaryes, always hoping to uncover a new 'scoop'- particularly Zak's location- but always worrying that he's being watched...
