I'm sure there have been people who've considered that, but unfortunately they've been drowned out by louder, more unreasonable voices. However, I must ask: what did you mean exactly when you said the land was live?

Well, the land isn't a static thing - it constantly changes. Plants grow and make barrens into forests, rivers cut new paths, and storms wash away hills, for example.

I don't mean to suggest that it's sentient, but it's certainly not dead.
